RICS Building Survey
(This survey report used to be known as a structural survey.)
We recommend the RICS Building Survey if:
- The property is in poor condition OR
- It’s more than 100 years old OR
- It’s built using unconventional methods or materials OR
- It’s already been significantly altered or extended OR
- You want to make major alterations to the property
Why should I get a RICS Building Survey?
A RICS Building Survey is a detailed assessment of the structure and the construction methods used in the building. It identifies any serious defects or problems with the property, and provides technical advice on how you can fix these.
Finally it advises on future maintenance issues so that you can plan ahead, and highlights any potential legal issues you might want your solicitor to investigate.
A number of standard-setting and consumer organisations (including Which and The Council of Mortgage Lenders) recommend that you get an independent home survey before you commit to buying any property.
What can I expect from your building survey service?
One of our chartered surveyors will then inspect the property and compile a RICS Building Survey. This report is in tailored to your requirements and uses best practice guidelines from the the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors.
